That's a legacy of the past 2 millennia. The current pope is clearly against that and says so very openly. I have heard an expert say he is worried about the pope's life because he changes so much and touches taboos. He has fierce enemies both inside and outside the Vatican who just want things to stay the way they are.

My guess is many of them will simply label the pope a socialist and disregard him entirely, but it won't be quite so easy for practicing Catholics.

no he is not.....there isn't any greed in communist and socialists countries when the POLITICOS live like kings while the people live in poverty?

tell me exactly what is the POPE message in details in global warming, that we should tax what at what %? and how is the U.S. is going to FORCE INDIA, China, Russia and the rest of the world to comply to our tax codes on energy????

the problem with liberalism is that when you get to the details and results it doesn't sound so good.

and since when Catholics listens 100% to the Vatican? the Vatican is against abortions and divorces but many Catholics still do it.....so you lost me with that Catholics has to follow what Sanders say, its absurd.

I don't know if the POPE is socialist, it doesn't matter, he is not our leader. He has never talk about anything you mention above in details.

The Pope is going to drive out the Conservative Catholics from the Church, which I think is his goal.

The money is tied up in universities around the world, ancient priceless relics and works of art, real estate, etc.

Priests are exceedingly poor when compared to evangelical ministers. The Vatican is a country and therefore it needs a budget.

The Pope is not rich.

How long have you been the Vatican's accountant?

Only if Sanders condemns abortion and makes it clear that he believe's it's a mortal sin. Still, I can't see the Pope ever endorsing a politician for anything.

Interesting statistics:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathol...icism_by_state

Don't know if it is just coincidence, but there seems to be a correlation between the Catholic faith, Democrats, and wealth

Who ever said Catholics have to follow what Sanders says? I sure didn't. What I said was that Sanders' platform echos a lot of what the Pope has been talking about, and since the Pope is the spiritual head of the Catholic Church, it will be interesting to see how they react.

And yeah, he's talked at length about greed and income inequality and climate change. Just because you haven't been listening doesn't mean he hasn't been talking about it. Google it. It will not be hard to find.

"Pope to endorse Bernie Sanders in his visit to the USA"

Does that really mean that he's really going to Disney?

Anyone who thinks the Pope is going to endorse a presidential candidate has had too many sips of the wine at communion.
