Too bad that this is a complete misapplication of Article 6.

Is Ben Carson advocating for a LAW that says Muslim people can't be President? NO!!!.... and that's the ONLY way Article 6 applies. It doesn't mean that you as an individual can't use your opinion of someone else's religion to inform your vote.

The Constitution wasn't created to regulate people's personal thoughts, convictions, ideas and beliefs PEOPLE! There is absolutely nothing wrong with what Ben Carson said. His personal beliefs wouldn't allow him to vote for a Muslim, much in the same way that most Liberals probably wouldn't vote for someone who wants to find a way to ban gay marriage, or outlaw abortion. Should Democratic candidates be criticized or asked to step out of the race, who feel that people who object to gay marriage and/or abortion for religious reasons aren't fit to be president? There's no difference between that and what Carson said, yet, if Hillary Clinton would come out and say "people who oppose gay Rights or abortion for religious reasons shouldn't be president" it'd be a WHOLE different story, wouldn't it? No one would be invoking Article 6 or asking Clinton to step out of the race, would they?

Has the whole world gone INSANE!?!?!?!? What I want to know, is when we became a country where people are no longer allowed to have an opinion that might offend someone? It's OK to disagree with an opinion, but that's not what's going on here, people are criticizing Carson and others for daring to even have such an opinion! It's crazy! What is happening to this country!?!? Is there any hope left, or is it too late for us?

This has to be the most ridiculous defense of Ben Carson's idiotic comment I have seen. If you don't understand why this type of rhetoric is unacceptable from a potential President then you should not be allowed near a voting booth.

Yep.

Polls show that Democrats are about 3 times as bigoted against Mormons with roughly a third of Democrats saying that they wouldn't vote for a Mormon to be President. Some polls even show 46% of Democrats refusing to vote for a Mormon.

This is acceptable bigotry, as most Mormons are pasty white.

However, if someone holds this same common view against minority Muslims if they espouse Sharia Law for ALL than it is horrendously evil -- run with it liberal media!!!

Actually if you think about it Islam and American liberalism both are very similar. Both are backwards, self destructive to others and violent when things don't go your way.
To begin with, we don't talk nice about Islam. But we do recognize it as one of the world's leading religions. Many of us know Islamic people that are fine and upstanding, and who reject radical Islam.

The world is too complex to be understood by people like you. It isn't good OR bad; evil OR angelic; liberal OR conservative.

Kirdik, how many people on this thread have said they would "be okay with a POTUS who promotes sharia law"? How many. Exactly how many?

Answer: zero.

I think this whole defence of Benny is silly..He is speaking a a persons running for POTUS..NOT a regular voting citizen...Pleeze stop trying to excuse someone who somehow speaks about his beliefs and what he would do ..translates he is more than willing to vote or promote his particular conscience IF he were to become POTUS...POINT being..Once elected..Religious POV become ( or should) and defers their person views IF it benefits the WHOLE country..Something very lacking by some STATES governed by GOP led legislatures..to pass obviously religious based legislations to marginalized citizens.....SO I am NOT buying yet another spin of excuses for Ben Carson!!

Sharia Law will never be adopted by any US government entity..whether State or Federal..So puleeze those shilling for those who love to dog whistle..it's falling on deaf ears for those actually informed on Constitution and Rule of Law. For what's it worth when States pass laws ruling against Sharia Laws..is no more than a grandstanding gesture..because it's AGAINST the Constitution..unless and of course Republican State pass laws outlawing Christian's being held accountable for denying Civil RIhts due to their Religious beliefs...NOW..Who's actually promoting "CHRISTIAN SHARIA-type laws"???

Actually the world is very easy to understand its people like you who try and cloud it so people don't see the plain truths.

Also their are no moderate Muslims.... if you are a follower of Islam you will read and understand that there is no such animal in the Muslim religion... you can't be moderate and a Muslim according to the Qur'an.
This is a fact!!

"Fight everyone in the way of Allah and kill those who disbelieve in Allah"

"Said Allah does not love those who reject Islam"

Ah the peaceful religion (cult) of Islam.

You people need to stop smoking the crack and wake up.....
Even in those so called moderate Islamic countries lets see two men kiss in public and see what happens.

Islam is not compatible the with U.S. constitution.

At a press conference in Sharonville, Ohio, Tuesday, Carson said, "I don't care what a person's religious beliefs are or what their religious heritage is. If they embrace American culture, if they embrace our Constitution and are willing to place that above their religious beliefs, I have no problem with that. I said that. Why is it so impossible for people to hear that?"

He said earlier, in an interview with Fox News, that his view does not just apply to Muslims. "If, for instance, you believe in a theocracy, I don't care if you're a Christian. If you're a Christian and you're running for president and you want to make this into a theocracy, I'm not going to support you. I'm not going to advocate you being the president."
