No, the shutdown was due to the fact that the Republicans didn't have enough votes to override a presidential veto. So, due to the way the Constitution has set up our form of government, if they can't override a veto they don't get their way. The shutdown was the GOP throwing a temper tantrum because of that fact. It's amusing that many Conservatives supposedly revere the Constitution...except when it keeps them from getting what they want.

And the president doesn't go on record as vetoing the funding. How sweet it is.

As for revering the Constitution, Obama goes around it to get what he wants. We've seen that a lot.

His veto would go on record. But he doesn't have responsibility for how Congress chooses to react to his veto. If they refuse to rework the bill so that it can be signed, they bear full responsibility for the results of their refusal.

That begs the question as to what a POTUS can do by way of an executive order. If he is merely doing what he is entitled to do under the Constitution, then his executive orders are perfectly fine, right?

Guess what, only the POTUS can make that determination. Not Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, Beck, Ingrahm or any of the crazy posters here.

I don't recall where POTUS has struck down Obama's executive orders. . . . not one. Can you?

Mick

I'd like to think our leadership has more critical analysis skills than that, but perhaps they don't care for the truth, only the outcome they seek.

Much moral depravity is at work.
The moral depravity is coming the likes of posts like this who try and provide cover for what PP is doing.

So IOW, you favor lots of public grandstanding but zero results in terms of legislation?

That's pretty much what Cruz has done. He hasn't delivered except for a lot of words.

We want states rights and to cut spending. It's amusing you comment on, yet don't know what Conservatives want.
