Yesterday, there was a headline posted here which didn't seem right. It was from "Raw Story". So, it was so poorly written that I decided to google and see if I could find a better written article. I chose the local newspaper, a big city one, and read something entirely different than what "Raw Story" was running in their headline of the article.
We have seen it more than once, read past the headline and try to find a "reliable" source.
We do know the GOP is siphoning off votes of all colors, incomes, etc. so it looks like the Dems may be.............if the GOP wants to win the race and doesn't nominate Bush.
The leftists/progressives and Dems absolutely hate this guy because he is a fully black Republican who did not grow up privileged but became a success story. They definitely cannot have that. So they're going to be relentless with him. That's why reporters are asking him hypothethetical questions and then full of faux outrage over his answers for days afterwards. It's shameful - some of it probably also closeted racism - but they have no shame.
It's not a "smear" if Carson actually said the things that are attributed to him. If the "left" (whoever that is) is attacking Carson, good. He deserves to be attacked because of the outrageous statements he has made.
As President Harry Truman said, "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." If Carson and his minions are so sensitive about people objecting to his viewpoint, maybe Mr. Carson shouldn't be running for president? Being a candidate for president is no job for crybabies.
The left is desperate. They know they have no viable candidate in the general election. The electorate isn't (quite) dumb enough to elect either a bumbling, lying criminal or a doddering old man that thinks he's Santa Claus. Hence they NEED to attack the Republicans and undermine their candidates. Carson of course has them terrified-a brilliant black man getting the Republican nomination should terrify them. "Wacism" is the only thing they had to pizz and whine about last time, both to be a rallying point for their candidate and to use it as a talking point against Republicans. If Republicans nominate the first black presidential candidate, they have nothing. "We have to elect a black man" and "Republicans are racist" both fall flat. The only thing they have left are issues and abilities, and Carson is so far over both Clinton and Sanders heads they can't see the surface.

I've read your posts and you and I agree on almost nothing, but on this we agree.
Carson (at least publicly) doesn't appear to be concerned about the smears. But smears happen. It happens on the left and it happens on the right, and it is an obnoxiously obvious attempt to minimize and discredit candidates.
If Carson can't stand up to the predictable smear machine (that only kicked in when he actually began to poll well enough to become a concern - so he can take it as a good sign) then he won't be able to stand up to the REALLY bad actors that are out there on the world stage. All part of the game, and we'll see how he responds over time.
Words are only helpful or harmful when a speakers intent, tone and the context of the words are fully and completely understood. It sounds as though you are reacting to the headline words, or anecdotal and or agenda driven intent of the 'reporting'. Maybe even a Twitter or comparable [u]reporting[u] of the words.
So, actually saying something is not the message. Outrageous depends on intent, tone and context. Linguistics 101.
