Felons would vote for whoever would give them the most free stuff..just like a great number of non-felons.
Over the past 40 years, most voters have voted for those who give away free stuff to the rich though. How much do the military industrial complex, big pharma and Wall Street earn on their investments by buying politicians? They are downright laughing at the voters while draining the pockets of the middle class in everyway they can.
Oh, I don't know, my answer would be different if you are looking at a subsection of those people, namely, mass murderers, pedophiles, serial killers, arsonists, i-bankers, ponzi scheme operators, neo-Nazis, and so on. They are overwhelmingly Republicans, I was told.
I think the 'thug' persona that arrogant people attach to all prisoners probably wouldn't vote at all. The few that do would most likely vote Democrat.
The one's with a genuine interest in voting and reentry could vote any number of ways. They likely have families on the outside who are affected by the outcomes of various elections, which could influence how they vote. They may hold certain views out of principle that cause them to vote a certain way.
Most prisoners self identify as Christian, many have racial hang-ups or are xenophobic, love guns, and, at least at some point in life, demonstrated low intelligence and a lack of critical thinking skills. On the surface, it looks like overwhelming republican; however, I would caution that it most likely divided by the same metrics that separate the general public.
