the U.S. went from under 5 million people to 340 million people in just 200 years and millions of illegals coming here to have their babies beacause of a high quality of life......we did that by not having a federal mandate that employers must pay 14 weeks paid maternity leave.......how did women in America ever survived that? we need Bernie! Sanders brought in China as an example of a country with less than stellar human rights record who is actually giving more paid maternity leave than we do. China is put into context by Sanders and was cited as a reference to why he thinks it's a good idea.
However, you and James Wood misquoted Sander's point and attacked China, thinking that by attacking an irrelevant point it'd discredit Sanders. That's a classic Straw Man Fallacy.

China has a lot of mandatory laws, how does that make our country better?
do we need a federal law that mandates that everybody needs to eat 3 meals a day and drink whatever amount of water a day?.....do we need a federal law that mandates how much pay vacation and sick leave everybody should get?
again, the U.S. has done pretty good in taking care of Americans and raise their standard of living without having a big federal government.
Using China as an example on how they treat their women is James Wood's point......just because China's has a mandatory paid maternity leave they are still way below U.S. standards and I really doubt an American woman would want to have their baby in the public hospitals in China.
Obviously they missed the point just as much as James Woods, that Hollywood darling.

I didn't know that was on top of the list for American women for 2016. A federal mandate of 14 weeks of paid maternity leave......how could women in the U.S.A ever get by with the current standards, horrible!
