Speaking of idiots...why is there no such legislation from the smal govt. republicans? Oh that's right, they are as rare as Bigfoot sightings.

I'd never vote for the burn, but he gets this one right... Well partially, decriminalization would be better.

Or where is the legislation from getting the gvt out of the lives of Americans as much as possible, republicans?

They should support legalization of pot but they won't because of fear of the back lash of the Christian right.

If you REALLY want small government look toward libertarians. Not a Sanders fan either, but I agree with him on this, and as they say even a blind squirrel finds a nut.

Nevermind of course that plenty of Christians smoke pot. I wish the republican party would practice what they preach in terms of "small government and less intrusion in our lives" but sadly, they are as much for expanding the government as the democrats.

Awesome. Any idea of the timeline for this to possibly get a vote?

Something 100% natural that also has so many medicinal benefits, and has been WIDELY used since the dawn of time (until less than 100 yrs ago), shouldn't be illegal.

I think this bill is designed to reach the next president's desk.

Here's a list (albeit 3 months old) of all the marijuana bills currently in congress:

List Of Marijuana Bills Currently Being Considered By Congress | The Weed Blog

There may have been a few more added since, including the Sanders bill.

Although it does bug me that marijuana keeps getting all the attention and is toted as the "harmless" drug while pretty much every other drug has no political discussion on it. I know Congress was supposed to vote in September on methoxetamine whether to ban it or not. I don't know if they called a vote, but how come that drug gets like 0 attention while everyone jumps on the pot wagon, even though both have significant chances for both harm and benefit.
If you think he will be elected just because of his stance on pot, then we are truly screwed and the electorate is dumber than we thought and I didn't think that was even possible. Electing Bernie might get weed legalized but nobody will be able to afford it.
