I agree that Dr. Carson probably would never be able to take orders. However, we do not know what he was like as a teenager.

I was hoping by now this thread would be closed. After all, there are much more important issues to discuss. During the debate last night, he said he would not raise the minimum wage, yet he said during an interview earlier this year that he was for it, which shows he is being coached to say whatever will make him popular or he doesn't have a plan. All candidates flip-flop, so let's not talk about them here, since this is a thread about Ben Carson. I think $15 is too high, but when it was raised from $5.15 to $7.25 businesses didn't close. So why not use the same percentage and compromise?

Anyway, I wanted to respond to this post because you're right about his ego. Anyone running for the highest office in the land needs an ego. However, one big difference is that politicians and attorneys are used to conflict. Even Trump, whom I do not support, knows how to deal with hostile opponents. But when you are the neurosurgeon in the operating room, nobody questions your authority. I thought of this clip from a movie I liked many years ago. It's only 1:32, and I can't put it any better than this. A surgeon has complete control of his environment and we are in awe of them so he's not used to being questioned about his opinions or his experience.

Carson says the West Point people he met offered the promise of a full scholarship if he attended West Point, and with his accomplishments he'd probably get accepted. It did not matter at all to Carson, because he immediately turned them down, saying he wanted to be a doctor.

So where is the lie, and you better have proof?

If Carson remembers them telling him he could get a full scholarship if he attended, all they were doing was repeating the exact same language from their own West Point ads.

So where is the lie?

Oh, and anyone who talks to a West Point recruiter will receive the same promise of a full government scholarship, should you attend. The only difference is, with Carson's accomplishments, he was also told he would most likely be accepted in 1969.
If anyone will receive the same promise, then why did Dr. Carson seem to think it was so special?
