She was actually a U.S. Senator for eight years. She was first elected in 2000 and then reelected in 2006, and served until she became Secretary of State in 2009.

whether true or untrue or misconstrued, I don't care - I'm more concerned about his lack of governing experience, his lack of political experience, his odd-ball beliefs (did I hear that right? Pyramids were built by the father of Jesus?). Silly Americans willing to give the keys to the nation to this whackjob? I thought more of my fellow citizens, but maybe I was wrong. I think they've been watching too much reality TV and their brains have gone to mush.

People are digging into Carson's past claims because he has made a bunch of other questionable, seemingly outlandish claims that reek of outright deceit.

I'd also point out that West Point does not offer scholarships, period.

No. The point is, that among both the Low Left and the Low Right, facts tend to be distorted in favor of generalizations and "pop wisdom".

Apparently, this is OK as long as the Left's "captive embarrassment" is the side twisting or misunderstanding things, but as soon as a conservative cause or candidate is involved, the Politically Correct scream bloody murder.

The "pyramid" comment, for example, was delivered back in 1998, and in the company of Dr. Carson's fellow Adventists. Most of us would admit that when the absolutist nature of hard-sell religion mixes with an audience with more-modest levels of education, things get distorted.

And the folks out there in Deep Left Field are all in favor of this -- but only so long as it works in favor of their candidate and ideology, which is usually the case. Hypocrasy hates a taste of its own medicine.

I don't know why ANYBODY bothers putting this crap on here other than just wanting to b****.

Because, let's be honest, nobody is going to change people's opinions.

It's usually the same posters, over & over. It makes me wonder if these people are retired or don't have jobs, and otherwise have no life, because this kind of thing certainly does not keep me up at night.

What a shame that he traded in a distinguished career to become a laughingstock on the order of Sarah Palin.

The funny thing is, none of these are made up:

"I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go."

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it."

"Ok, look, you know, when I was a kid, I inhaled frequently. That was the point."

"On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes - and I see many of them in the audience today"

"There's a lot of - don't know what the term is in Austrian,"

"The middle east is obviously an issue that has plagued the region for centuries"

"Israel is a strong friend of Israel's"
