Additionally, TIME reported, an archivist at the university came to the same conclusion earlier this year, but has thus far been unable to identify the man. For that reason, Sanders is still listed in the description. The classmates with whom TIME spoke believe the man addressing protesters in the photo is Bruce Rappaport, who passed away in 2006.
With the photo quality if the group photo, I just really couldn't bet either way and unless you are suspected of being a "pathological" liar, I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. Just because classmates say something from 50 years ago................

Ben Carson didn't get off that easy with our Liberal friends. I think it's time to return the favor.
Other people that were there said that the two were co founders of the group, and looked remarkably similar. They have also said that Sanders was there at the sit in. Maybe the wrong one was labeled in the photo as the one standing in front, maybe not. But bothwere in attendance and both were leaders.

Carson's claims were pretty far fetched. Seems this has been labelled as Sanders for a long time.
Should Sanders be more careful if this wasn't him? (And that isn't clear yet) absolutely but it would seem to be a valid error as its something Sanders was known for in college.
Quite unlike Carson being a thug that would go around and stab someone.

No, Sanders claims that he is valiantly standing up there for the sake of civil rights. As it turns out, he wasn't standing there leading at all.

He was the co founder of the group and was in attendance at the sit in. The guy standing up looks like a known pic of Sanders even wearing the same sweater. People who knew both of them said that the two co founders look remarkably similar. He was a LEADER of the group, he was there at the sit in. So, yes he was valiantly leading them.
