What a stupid thread.. the obvious reason for the stretch is to show the states to find them... most times they draw a line to the tiny weeny area an show what state it is.. they now have a map that one can see their state easily..
Someone needs to get a job to nitpick why the map is stretched.. to see the tiny weeny states visually.

It's not stretched, the states are not properly located, and the entire Canadian/American border in that area is re-drawn.
That said, this was some staffer who was geographically challenged, and whose work was not properly checked out.
It's funny, but at the end of the day it's irrelevant.
