Default Obama's campaign inspires people

I have seen artwork, read prose and poetry, and now there is a celeb-filled music video inspired by the words of Barack Obama. Here is a video by will.i.am of the black eyed peas and lots of music/film biggies:

YouTube - Barack Obama - Yes We Can music video

Debuting on MTV...

Get out and vote on Tuesday!

He is quite inspiring and I have already submitted my vote for him. Even if Obama doesn't win the nomination, I feel good that he exists.

I'm confident that he will prevail however. I'm especially interested in how my state votes on Tuesday.

Again Ill ask. HOW is he inspiring? Just because he can speak fairly well? Let me just say that until 2 weeks ago I LIVED in Illinois. The only thing Obama inspired me to do was get the h-ll out of that state. It's screwed beyond belief because of the All Kids Covered system. What do you think is going to happen when this same thing happens nationally?

In Illinois I had owned a house taxed at $104,000. I paid $2400 in property taxes
I am in Missouri now. I own a house appraised at $180,000. I pay $2200 in property taxes (plus 1 acre of land).

The house I owned in Illinois was about 50 miles outside of St. Louis. If that house had been in O'Fallon or Fairview Heights (13 miles out) the taxes would have been about 4,000+ a year. I am warning you people that if this guy gets elected beware of your taxes (it should be obvious though). It isn't the solution in Illinois and it certainly isn't the solution nationally.

I'm sorry, but I don't think that just because taxes are high in Illinois that translates into the exact same thing happening once he becomes President. 50 states have been scrambling to make ends meet given the enormous wasteful spending by the village idiot in Iraq and abroad. What effect has this had on Illinois? Consider that? If this is the best reason that you can come up with for not voting for Obama, vote for somebody else.

If you don't already know what's inspiring about Obama, nothing that anyone can say can shed any light on this subject for you.

Cop out.

So if George Bush was a senator or governor of Alabama, and taxes were absurdly high, you would toss this out and say it won't happen when he becomes president?

It's called a "track record", meaning it has happened before, if you think it won't happen the exact same way your insane. What effect has it had on Illinois? Go to Illinois. Find out how screwed up it is. Do you realize that because of the democratic government in Illinois, our schools had to go without funding at the beginning of the semester because the budget couldn't be balanced? Why? Because the Govt. wanted to INCREASE HEALTHCARE FOR PEOPLE IN THE STATE!!!

State Budget Stalemate Sets Not-So-Proud Record
Posted by cbs2chicago.com Jul 30, 2007 |

“But it's a national problem. And the governor needs to understand that, and I'm hoping and praying that at some point the governor comes to his senses.”

Illinois legislators are set to make history on Wednesday, but it is nothing to celebrate.

When they convene to try to end the budget stalemate, they will break the record for the state's longest legislative overtime session - 55 days.

CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery reported Tuesday evening that the record budget stalemate has a very real chance of leading to a government shutdown in a matter of days.

The state's temporary spending authority expires exactly one week from Tuesday night. Then come the payless paydays for some state workers and likely layoffs for other public employees, including teachers and transit workers

Funny how you nobody has said a SINGLE THING about what is inspiring about Obama. Don't cop out and say if I don't know vote for someone else. SELL your candidate. What is inspiring about him to you?

Illinois has a flat state tax of 3%. That's low compared to other states. What you are complaining about are property taxes which are determined by your local municipalities. These taxes are needed to fund local schools. Obama was a state senator, he had nothing to do with your property taxes. Your city council is to blame. They probably just wanted to raise more money so you can send your kids to good quality public schools.

[Mod edited]It is a STATEWIDE THING. Trying to pin this at a "local" level is insane. It is an Illinois government problem and you people who don't think this will transfer to a national level with Obama are in for a HUGE surprise.

Quote:
'Universal" government health care has once again returned as a political cause, with many Democrats believing it's the key to White House victory in 2008. They might want to study last week's news from Illinois, where Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich's tax increase to finance health care became the political rout of the year.

The Democratic House in Springfield killed the proposal, 107-0, after Mr. Blagojevich came out against his own idea when it became clear he was going to be humiliated. Only a month earlier he had said he was prepared to wage "the fight of the century" in defense of his plan to impose a $7.6 billion "gross receipts tax" on Illinois businesses.
Quote:
As for national Democrats, Presidential candidate John Edwards has already proposed a huge tax increase to pay for national health care. At least he's honest about what such promises require, but we doubt it will help his Presidential prospects. Illinois Senator Barack Obama has been silent on his Governor's tax implosion, but someone should get him on the record. And Hillary Clinton, well, we can't wait to see how "universal" her promises will be.

Please....stop distorting the story. I live in Illinois, and you are not being truthful here. The state tax in Illinois is a flat 3%. Property taxes are relatively high not because of Obama, but because city councils all over the state have to raise taxes to fund their respective school districts.
