Carson people report he misremembered and confused a clip from somewhere in the Middle East with NJ.

The NJ town I lived in at the time had many Muslim and non Muslim families who lost loved ones on 9/11. The local Muslim community was terrified. The local Sikh community was also in a panic because they understood US people tend to confuse them with Arabs. The local Police guarded mosques/ community centers, 24/7 throughout NJ.

Trump insisted he watched footage of " thousands and thousands of people celebrating in NJ - where you have a large Arab population".

How come no one else saw the same footage? Everyone in the country and especially in the NY tri state area were glued to their TVs. How come there are no tapes, anywhere?

Psychologists say people unconsciously fabricate memories all the time.

Most who do are not running for their party's nomination.

Is your issue just with the numbers? If he said tens of people would you leave hime alone? Didn’t think so.

Many U. S. people are challenged to distinguish between an Arab and a Sikh.

"thousands and thousands" is sorta the point of the anecdote. It's told to give the impression that it's a popular viewpoint among US Muslims. And it's a lie.
