Here's a scenario that I wouldn't mind playing out: A four-way race between Rubio, Clinton, Trump, and Sanders. That would allow everyone to be on equal footing going into the race.

Read between the lines. Most likely what was happening is the firewall was coming down when Clinton needed it to. The Sanders campaign noted they didn't get additional information, they were simply trying to make sure theirs wasn't being compromised.
