Because those 2-3% have family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors, as well as a majority of decent heterosexual people, who believe in giving LGBT equality that we all deserve.

So what's my point? LGBT's strength is not in its numbers. No, no, no, their strength is truly in the heterosexual people who fight their cause. So multiply that 2-3% by some significant number to get a more accurate picture of their political clout.

Absolute Nonsense.

Gays & Lesbians advanced their right by going to the courts. Neither political party has done anything to advance rights for Gays & Lesbians with new laws.
  • Obama? Nope - In fact candidate Obama was against Gay Marriage because he felt it was politically better to hold this position.
  • Bill Clinton? Nope - He signed the Defense of Marriage Act (which discriminates against Gays & Lesbians) into law.
Gays & Lesbians will not be block voting for the Democrats.

I remember it and you are wrong. Reagan's popularity had nothing to do with Mondale's loss. What cost Mondale the election was the tank photo and Kitty's alcohol problem. (/sarcasm)

Actually, it was Dukakis (1998) who had infamous tank photo.

Thank you ... I stand corrected.

Please excuse me now ... enroute to the store to buy a humble pie.

Oh? How is it that 14 states (IIRC) had passed legislation to make SSM legal before the Oberkfell case?

It's amusing. You can list all the Democrats you want, but everyone in the gay rights movement knows that Democrats didn't go out of the way to deprive the same sex couples of their rights . . . . unlike the Republicans who actively sought to invalidate it in any possible way. Someone pecking a keyboard at 4 a.m. is not going to change the facts. Sorry.

Gays can already get married. So there's not much reason for us to continue supporting Democrats, especially when we have someone like Trump that wants to fix America while also not being a backwards buffoon that wants to focus solely on social issues (I'm looking at you, Jeb!).

Not that the Democrats did much of anything about it anyway. It was the courts that did it.

The point is that, if you put Democrats and Republicans side by side on gay rights issues (including SSM), Democrats have supported gay rights much more than did the Republicans. It's all relative because it has always been a controversial matter, and neither party has been 100% behind the gays for sure . . . but that doesn't mean that the pattern of support (or hostility) is invisible to the gay community.

Why are we even arguing about this? One party simply cannot be seen as gay-friendly because of its evangelical base. Period.

Please list out the Gay Rights Laws that Democrats have sponsored in congress. And in particular focus on the period of time when Obama and the Democrats completely controlled the congress from 2008 -2010.

It's one thing to talk the talk, but quite another to walk the walk.
