Is Trump hiring him to be a spoiler? Bloomberg would appeal to Liberals and Democrats more than Republicans.
Maybe some moderate Democrats, but I can't imagine many liberals find him appealing. I'd expect some pro-business Republicans who either don't care about social issues or are socially moderate voting for Bloomberg.
If so, that might be explained by Bernie Sanders' anti-Wall Street, anti-billionaires (of which Bloomberg is one).
Based on what I've read, a Sanders Democratic nomination would be Bloomberg's primary reason for jumping into the race. I've never been a Bloomberg fan, but I would be glad to see his stand up for capitalism in that scenario.

In a three-way race, polling is showing that Bloomberg would hurt Hillary more than the Republican candidate (especially Trump).
Yea, it looks like Independents don't go for Hillary, lean towards in that vote. About the same number of Democrats as Republicans go for Bloomberg, and roughly the same switch parties.
My guess is that in some states, he'd hurt Democrats more, in others, Republicans much more. As middle-age mom says. Bloomberg would appeal the most to affluent voters.
I bet someone like Lebron James or Tom Brady could get 30%+ of the vote
in today's America. Oprah or Angelina Jolie.
That's what it's become. This is really where it is going.
Bloomberg is a bright guy. He inherited a prosperous but still traumatized by 9/11 NYC from Rudy and did a decent job, mostly by keeping Ray Kelly as police commissioner and soothing over ruffled feathers in the black community by kissing Sharpton's voluminous tuckus. Yeah, he was a nanny-state guy, but New Yorkers were willing to overlook it as long as he kept the crime rates down.
But that was in NYC. He's not a boisterous, often positive while being obnoxious kind of speaker like Trump. He's dry. He's composed. He's not a leader, he's an administrator. A good one, but he doesn't inspire the masses. I suspect he'd attract the kind of Democrat who finds Sanders too liberal and Hillary too corrupt...and you folks are out there, but not enough to push Bloomberg over the line.
I can't see Bloomberg resonating with any Republican this year, especially over Trump, and he must have some kind of lousy advisers if they're trying to push him to run.
I live in a Republican majority community , mostly white, well educated professionals. There seems to be very little support for Trump , to put it mildly.
My husband, a lifetime straight ticket Democrat, loves Trump. Only the recent affiliation with Palin has given him pause. He's likely get over it and continue the bromance.
I can't see any Republican voting for him, especially over Trump.
I would. He was the Mayor when I lived in NYC and did a damn fine job. But I'm not a crazy far right Republican. If it's Trump v Hilary, I'll vote Democrat for the first time EVER.
From what I gather, Bloomberg will only enter the race if it's shaping up to be Sanders v Trump. Those are two extremely terrifying candidates and I think Mayor Mike would have a good chance at winning as a 3rd party candidate given that polarizing matchup. I have to believe that the majority of the country doesn't want to make all Muslims register in a database or raise the top tax rates to 75% to fund Bernie's socialist agenda.....
