Don't forget all the the mexicans who are now "wards of the state". I just wonder what the percentage of people on the Dole is now (legal and illegal)?

as a woman who said that i would never vote for hillary, i might have to rethink my position now that the republican party has decided to go with mccain. this election is really anybody's guess at this point. fiscal conservatives will be more issue driven than personality driven in the end.

But I can tell you that anybody in Europe or even Canada would laugh at you if you told them the U.S. Democract Party was "left wing" because they would consider our Democrat Party to be a far more conservative party in comparison to the Labour, Liberal and NDP parties.
Oh so sadly true. What I wouldn't give for a proper left-wing party that had national appeal. Sadly, I'm stuck with the Democrats, which have always been to right-wing for me but usually garner my votes (except sometimes locally, but that is more due to issues of corruption rather that ideology).

Default Here is a nice response to a nasty, ugly post

You could almost taste the tears as they flowed on the microphone! But lets consider the real facts:
The fact is that the Republican Party was never the "conservative party" until Ronald Reagan. Before it was the "party of Reagan" it was long the party of Rockefeller, Eisenhower, Ford, Nixon, Dole. Only upon the arrival of Reagan- who first tried to destroy the party be challenging a sitting President (Ford)- did the Republican party turn into a bastion of right wing fascism. I can tell you that neither Ike nor Rockefeller would even recognize the party today. It is a party of right wing lunatics like Ann Coulter, religious nutcase zealots like Pat Robertson, Neo Nazis like David Duke, war mongers, one world government types and other assorted screwballs. It has got so bad that even the traditional robber barron Republicans do not feel comfortable anymore! But the Republicans are finally taking back the party from the screwballs. The fact that John McCain is trouncing his opponents is evidence of that. Oh they throw everything that they can at him! They throw immigration, the gang of 14, the opposition to the tax giveaways to the rich and lawd knows what else at him. But he just keeps on racking up the victories!
This is a pretty vicious and nasty post. I am not even sure if I should reply to such trash, but someone has to say something, so here it goes:

McCain has not racked up any victories. The liberal MEDIA has racked up victories for McCain. They labeled him a "war hero", a "conservative", and as "the one who can defeat Hillary". McCain is a fraud, he is not a Conservative, he is a liberal, backroom-deal maker, a "compromiser" who only favors Democrats and liberals in the Senate.

The media has hyped McCain, so they could trick the GOP into selecting him as a nominee. McCain's title ("the one who can defeat Hillary") will give the media more fuel to propel the REAL Socialist, Obama, under the pretense that only Obama can beat McCain, as McCain can beat Hillary.

But the media knows McCain will be creamed on the general election, may he come against Obama or Hillary. So the media is resting assured McCain will be destroyed in the months to come and a Democrat will win. They are betting on Obama, but I and many other students of political strategy know Hillary will ultimately win the nomination.

The party is not divided. The party is united. United with conservatives, not McCain liberals. The moderates who were tricked into voting for McCain by the media will now listen to the media as they did on the first primaries and will turn against McCain. The real conservatives will NOT vote for McCain. McCain's demise is already set. He is just a pony for a show.

But this is now part of the GOP strategy. Regardless of whether it is Hillary or Barack Hussein Obama, the US will be facing some hard times ahead. The Democrats will screw up the economy and foreign policy back into the days of Jimmy Carter.

Conservatives know Hillary (or Obama, but Hillary will screw up the surge victories in Iraq. Iraq, which is fairly stable now and Al-Qaeda is almost crushed there will rise again and the US will lose in Iraq. It will be painful to watch our honorable military leave in disgrace.

Hillary will allow Iran to build nukes. She will continue to be ok with Syria pounding Israel with rockets. This will create a wave of instability in the Middle East. Oil will hit $200 a barrel and American families will go CRAZY with $5/gallon gas. Hillary will push for massive government programs, which the US economy cannot afford. This will cause huge
deficits and even more economic woes. Hillary will raise the Capital Gains tax from 15% to 40% causing a HUGE sell-off of stocks in Wall Street. 401(k) values will plummet; the economy will hit Jimmy Carter-era blows. It will suck, but this pain will be all for a reason. Yes, it will be painful to live through, but America can make it.

Conservatives know the economy is in trouble and a Democrat will create complete havoc. A confrontation
with Iran is pretty much inevitable now. Iran is hope Hillary will win in 2008, so they have some leverage against the USA. But by then, the American people will have no one to turn to blame but the Democrats. The people ALWAYS blame the party in the White House for any economic troubles. It will be beautiful.

So, to address your post, YES, conservatives rather have a Dem in office at the time when the American economy sinks and Iran provides nukes to terrorists groups who will walk into the un-guarded, open-wide US-Mexico border. The country will have to suffer for nominating McCain and for electing Hillary. It will be painful to see our nation suffer, but it is necessary, beause it will salvage the conservative movement from the damage thar Bush has done with his Neo-Liberal policies and pushes for illegal alien amnesties.

Finally, after about 3 years of pain, the Conservatives will simply present a Republican candidate like the ultimate American hero that will solve all of the madness the USA will be in. An unknown Conservative will do the job after Americans suffer through a Democrats in the White House.

This is a long term strategy. To work, Conservatives HAVE TO turn out and vote for Republican Congressional
candidates. They will take the House back to the GOP. Then we just fight Hillary every step of the way and
re-take the Senate in 2010 and the presidency in 2012.

Remember that the GOP let Jimmy Carter win in 1976, so that he would screw up the USA badly until Reagan came
out in 1980 and annihilated Carter in the election. Conservatives are just going to have to VOTE for Congressional leaders and vote for Hillary, so the country can get back on track.

As long as the party turns out to vote for Congress members and vote for Hillary, Conservatives will ultimately win again.

Worry not, my anti-Conservative friend. Enjoy the next 4 years and smile with a Democrat in the White House, because from that point on the GOP will return to power in full force and you won't see your beloved Socialists in power for years to come.
