I hope they are right. That "mailer" that Cruz sent out shaming people and their neighbors over not voting might be the final nail in his coffin! With any luck.

Doesn't matter. Trump may win and it'll all be "yeah Santorum won Iowa but still didn't get the nomination".

Ah, Iowa! The Hawkeye State! I am always reminded of "The Music Man" whenever I read about Iowa. The State with, I believe, six votes in the electoral college. The State that will 'make or break' a candidate, except when it turns out to be irrelevant.

Last night (a family dinner, to celebrate my mother's 88th birthday), my BIL whom now heads up one of a Super Pacs (in Texas) on behalf of Rafael Edward Cruz (born in Canada), said that said Canadian 'expects to lose' Iowa, but that it is no matter. Said BIL said that they expect "Super Tuesday" to be the real event. He quoted 'private polls' that showed the Canadian doing well. He also quoted private polling showing that Mr. Trump has no real support among those whom will actually 'caucus' on Monday, although he admitted that a snowstorm would help Mr. Trump.

I hate to be the one to break the bad news to you, but there is only one poll that counts and this is not it.

Wonder if Trump's no-show at the debate will cause him to lose some voters. Since the debate was so recent, I don't think there are any polls that occurred after the debate.

The article doesn't say that at all. Quite the contrary:
Quote:
"Donald Trump could win Iowa,” said Stuart Stevens, a Maryland-based GOP strategist who has worked on five presidential campaigns but is neutral this election cycle. “But he has little room for error. He is almost no one's second choice.”

<snip>

If the race eventually comes down to two Republicans, 53 percent say they would prefer Cruz as the nominee, not Trump. Just 35 percent would choose Trump in a one-on-one contest with Cruz.
“Shake this all together and throw it out on the dice board, and I would predict that Cruz will win,” Stevens said.

Er, Hey pal, this Des Moines Register Poll was done after the GOP Debate, Thursday night.

Hence, MSNBC said this morning, if Trump reclaimed lead in this poll (trump has) they said it would indicate Trump was Favorite.

Poll dates were 1/26-1/29. 4 days of polling. 1 day (Friday 1/29) was after the debate. 75% of the poll was completed prior to the debate.

You need to take note of the dates the polling occurred, not the release date.
