Trump forgets that most of the companies who have moved to Mexico sell in the global marketplace. In other words, they don't need to sell their goods to Americans and if they don't there will be no tariffs for the US government to collect. If they do sell to us then it's we, the consumers, who will be paying the tariffs in the form of higher prices.

Mexico has now accepted that if Trump is elected the wall WILL go up. The only question is who pays for it. Also, did you notice that neither Rubio nor Cruz felt that the comment was addressed to them? In fact, it wasn't because Mexico knows they are not serious about the border.

Though I would never classify the construction of a 95-story building as simple, it is a feat that has been achieved many times before. There are at least 30 buildings that have reached a height of 95 stories or more, according to the obsessively detailed database at SkyscraperPage.com, and there are even more in the design phase or under construction.

Put it out in an open bid and see how many will say they can build it and you get plenty of response from contractors who actually do build things. It's not the Panama Canal.

That's right, dismiss an expert in the field's viewpoint in favor of Trump, who hires experts to build things. According to the expert, Trump's wall would require twelve million, six hundred thousand cubic yards of concrete:

Concrete, of course, requires reinforcing steel (or rebar). A reasonable estimate for the amount of rebar would be about 3 percent of the total wall size, resulting in a steel volume of 10,190,000 cubic feet, or about 5 billion pounds. We could melt down 4 of our Nimitz-class aircraft carriers and would probably be a few cruisers short of having enough steel.
Easy for someone who lives in PA to say. Come down to Texas and drive the border area - not just the major crossing areas but the length and breadth. Well, we already have a wall in Arizona, at least on the parts of the border that I visit.
What really bothers me about a bigger wall more than anything is the effect on wildlife. We are just beginning to see the return of jaguars in Arizona from Sonora, Mexico. Google, "jaguars santa rita mountains." If the wall is beefed up, it will prevent jaguars, Mexican wolves, etc. from migrating. People, of course, will still figure out a way through. They are immigrating illegally from Asia, for crying out loud. The wall won't do much.
