I'm not necessarily a Trump supporter (although I support him over Cruz and Rubio for sure), but remember our first president George Washington? Remember how great of a president he turned out to be? He had some spectacular failures under his belt too. Every great person does.

A casino owner has no control over that the local and state governments do with the taxes and fee's collected by them.

Donald Trump in Atlantic City: Jackpot or crackpot? - Press of Atlantic City: News
Trump's Atlantic City casino empire was built and funded by others. He deserves credit — perhaps grudging credit, but credit nonetheless – for this impressive feat. He was, indeed, one of the largest employers in South Jersey for decades. But he was no visionary, getting out ahead. Trump once had an Atlantic City empire. And he didn't sell it — he lost it.

The Rise and Fall of Donald Trump's Atlantic City Empire | News | Philadelphia Magazine
Today, Trump is running for president, he says, to make people rich. How he fared in Atlantic City suggests a businessman savvy enough to build a temporary empire but one whose bankruptcies and eventual exit caused considerable pain for many people. While America knows Trump through his reality shows and golf courses, the residents here know him as a boss and civic figure, and their perspective may be the best available assessment of Trump’s claims that he can, as he says, “make America great again.”

I live in the area. What happened to Atlantic City has nothing to do with Donald Trump or any one individual or businessman or even the A.C. government.

Atlantic City's fate was sealed when the surrounding States (Pennsylvania and Delaware) passed legislation to allow casinos. It's as simple as that.

There used to be bus trips from all sorts of different organizations and fraternities or V.F.W.'s etc... to Atlantic City all the time. Now, pretty much never. Atlantic City had a monopoly on the Casino Industry for pretty much all the East and North East of the United States. That's over now and Atlantic City is suffering immensely because of it. The most brilliant businessman in the history of humanity can't help Atlantic City now. The Pennsylvania and Delaware legislatures made sure of that.

Because in the end gamblers don't give a rat's behind about a boardwalk or a beach. They just want action. And now they can get it by driving a half hour or less or a little more then that at most instead of an hour and a half. And that's the bottom line with Atlantic City. Nothing more and nothing less.

EXACTLY!!!!!!! People who don't know the area and politics don't understand. Has zero to do with Donald Trump.

The problem with Atlantic City is those in politics that have been running Atlantic City. For decades.

America and its healthcare.

So much it mandated ERs all across its Nation not turn anyone away Inthe1980s

Can't have anyone dying in the streets right? Just like civilized Europe in the 80s.

Trump says we can't have anyone dying in the streets in 2016 American conservatives go ape ****.

If only they had went ape **** about the money spent securing Europe from a red invasion vs spending that money on Americans and their health what a different World we would all be living in there decades later.

Bernie's Medicare for all tax wouldn't seem so extreme.

And Europe's overall " civilized nation" status would not be widely touted by certain politicians in America 2016.

If only America had a brain. Instead NAFTA was the crowning achievement of the Worlds economic bloom.

If only America wasn't so poorly educated.

America would not have decreased from its standing in 1989 and the World increased against her today in 2016.

Black lives matter.

Take down that damn flag.

Changing demographics.

Mercia.

I can care but I smirk.

Don't tell me you didn't crack a smile when you heard the old white man was dying off.

It's just a grand old time when they just all die off.

How glorious America and the World will be when it is no longer cursed being so white.

Don't it make you just want to cry?

America was great when it stole scientists from Nazi Germany to put Americans on the moon.

Can't wait till America doesn't look like them.

No one forces you to gamble.

No one forces you to drink alcohol.

No one forces you to smoke cigarettes.

No one forces you to do drugs.

No one forces you to think of mayonnaise as one of the four basic food groups.

No one forces you to be a couch potato.

No one forces you to fly airplanes that might crash.

No one forces you to drive, which might get you killed.

See where I'm going here?
