We wanted to stay on the plan Bill Clinton started to balance the budget (first time in years) and pay down the debt.

That's Republican economics. That started us on this long downward slog.

We need another Clinton to turn this ship around!
Yeah, I recall all the people that got the check being so pissed about it that they sent it back right away with a certified letter telling the Preisdent of their displeasure of not being able to pay down the National debt.

Her main appeal - she's not Trump, Cruz or Rubio.

the main appeal of Hillary is she is not one of the Republican candidates - most of whom are just awful.

Clinton has two hardcore constituencies: feminists of a certain age, and Democratic Party insiders.

The first group is made up of feminist women who are contemporaries or near-contemporaries of Clinton. These are women who have fought their entire lives for feminist causes, and who see a female, feminist president as the ultimate symbolic reward for all of their contributions to the feminist movement. There support is unquestioning and unshakeable. They tend to be overwhelmingly White, and virtually all of them are part of the professional class (attorneys, journalists, politicians, etc.) There is little room here for racial minorities, and no room for working class women. These feminists don't constitute a majority of feminism as a whole, but they do tend to hold positions of economic and cultural power. Thus there influence is outsized in proportion to their numbers.

The second group consists of politicians who have long held control over The Democratic Party. That control is absolute, and the party structure is designed to keep grass roots movements out of the realm of party influence. We see this in the existence of the so called "super delegates", as well as in The DNC's semi-official support and funding of The Clinton Campaign. This group has tremendous sway with rank-and-file members of The Democratic Party via the use of endorsements from party figureheads who represent various specific constituencies within the party.

In reality, Hillary Clinton is neither liked nor trusted by very many Americans, but she has some very powerful political machinery behind her.
