Desperation from the Anti Trump crowd is now trying to imply Trump is in with the KKK and the Mafia
Seems to me much of the GOP is its own worst enemy as they never stop highlighting their incompetence and stupidity.Case in point if you get rid of Trump who you going to bring to the fight to face Hillary? surely you cant think Cruz or Rubio are up to the task.

ONLY during a 1975 unsuccessful bid for public office. Its completely irrelevant what his party is! The point is that he had a history with the KKK going all the way back to his LSU student days (late 60s!). So it doesn't matter which party under!!!!

If you want to go that far back, I'll take you up on it. Duke got kicked out of ROTC at LSU in the late 60s because he wore a Nazi uniform on campus when going to LSU's Free Speech Alley. He spent about 15 minutes once a week spewing out pseudo-philosophical arguments about racial supremacy. BTW, even by late 60s standards, that still ignited a lot of controversy at LSU.

Moving over a decade ahead, he ran for President in 1988 under the Christian Populist Party banner, and ran as a Republican in 1989. I only started at 1989 because he didn't actually win a public office until then. For the sake of completeness, he ran for President as a Republican in 1992.

So there you have it. It's YOU who are being disingenuous when you claim Duke ran as a Democrat. The only reason he ran as a Democrat was that at that time, "Southern Democrats" were still a thing. The South's shift to the Republican party was barely getting off the ground. David Treen, first Rep governor since Reconstruction, wouldn't win his office until 1979. In fact, the shift to Republicans wouldn't really be complete until the 90s.

Take it all from a born-and-raised Louisiana native - even if I lived in Texas since 2002!

OP = "Take it all from a born-and-raised Louisiana native"

I'd rather 'take it' from Wikipedia:

Quote:
In 1988, Duke ran initially in the Democratic presidential primaries. His campaign failed to make much of an impact, with the one notable exception of winning the little-known New Hampshire Vice-Presidential primary. Duke, having failed to gain much traction as a Democrat, then successfully sought the Presidential nomination of the Populist Party.
Duke was in the KKK (the terrorist wing of the Democratic Party) while he ran for office as a Democrat:

Quote:
Duke first ran for the Louisiana Senate as a Democrat from a Baton Rouge district in 1975... In October 1979, he ran as a Democrat for the 10th District Senate seat...
