, Shuster's remark was tasteless, but compare it to what John McCain said at a GOP dinner in 1998, and you have a man making a disgusting joke about a young girl. But of course this won't get air time!
Here is snip:
Not even close.
"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno."
-- Sen. John McCain, speaking to a Republican dinner, June 1998.

I'm sorry, that's false. (You've probably learned that by now). I actually heard John McCain say it. It was the last straw for me, a former ardent supporter of the man. To insult the only child of a sitting president...I don't know of anything even Rev. Jeremiah Wright could say that would beat that for tastelessness and poor judgement.

A joke too bad to print? (http://www.salon.com/news/1998/06/25newsb.html - broken link)
The fact that McCain had made the tasteless joke was reported in major newspapers, as was the vain attempt by his press secretary to initially deny what McCain had done. But in several major newspapers, the joke itself was kept a secret. When McCain subsequently apologized to President Clinton, the Washington Post, in its personality section, noted the apology but said the joke "was too vicious to print."

It was reported at the time.

Personally, I find John McCain's "g00k" comments more troubling.
John McCain's racist remark very troubling (http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/hongop.shtml - broken link)

Big deal if Chelsea Clinton was the subject of a joke. How many "jokes" have been directed at Barbara and Jenna Bush? Maybe you could find some links and criticize some of the liberal's off-color comments.
