Once again, Bernie misrepresents reality and it's clear the Pope is not happy about it.

Bernie basically was a groupie stalking the object of his affection and managed to get a quick handshake, not a private sit down with the Pope.

Quote:
“This morning when I was leaving, Senator Sanders was there,” he told reporters in Italian aboard the papal airliner today, after his visit to the refugee-filled Greek island of Lesbos. “He knew I was leaving at that time and he had the courtesy to greet me. I greeted him, his wife, and another couple who were there and were sleeping in Santa Martha. This is called good manners and it is not getting involved in politics.”
The Pope met with Bernie Sanders out of

Yet of course that didn't prevent Bernie from self-aggrandizement and calling it a "meeting" that was an "honor and a joy." Sounds like a 12 year old who managed to get an autograph from a member of their favorite boy band.

Sounds like Bernie visit was nothing more than a photo op?

He shook his hand, it's kind of hard to shake someone's hand without first MEETING them.

Perhaps you're confused about the different uses of the word "meeting" and their definitions.

Quote:
meet·ing
ˈmēdiNG/
noun
1.
an assembly of people, especially the members of a society or committee, for discussion or entertainment.
"the early-dismissal policy will be discussed at our next meeting"
synonyms: gathering, assembly, conference, congregation, convention, summit, forum, convocation, conclave, council, rally, caucus; More
2.
a coming together of two or more people, by chance or arrangement.
"he intrigued her on their first meeting"
synonyms: consultation, audience, interview More
I'm not sure what the problem is with Bernie saying it was an "honor and joy" to meet the Pope. I'd feel the same way. What should he have said?

He did meet him. He never claimed to be having a slumber party with him.

There was no invitation to meet with the Pope.

Stalking the Pope in the hallways means yes, they were in each other's presence, that is not a "meeting" the usage of the word that people commonly understand.

Would you Clinton sour grapes recognize the fact that the Vatican invited Bernie, it did not invite Clinton, Trump, or Cruz?

Indeed.

And sour grapes is all it is.
The fact remains, an invitation was extended and accepted.
History will show that no matter what the outcome of the election, it was Sen. Sanders who participated in this event and had an encounter with the Pope as a result.
