Ted Cruz continued to rule in the delegate selection contests across the country this weekend, which could well lead to his receiving the Republican nomination if Trump fails to secure it for himself on the first ballot in Cleveland in July.

Despite Donald Trump's recent hiring of Paul Manafort to oversee this incredibly important part of the campaign process, it appears that it may be perhaps too little, too late; at least as far as securing a majority of actual human beings who truly support Trump to serve as delegates at the convention.

Cruz crushes Trump in weekend delegate fight

Cruz won at least 65 of the 94 delegates up for grabs Saturday (and he may have won more, but Kentucky's 25 delegates haven't revealed their leanings). The Texas senator has so thoroughly dominated the fight to send loyalists to the national convention that if front-runner Donald Trump fails to clinch the nomination on the first ballot, Cruz is well-positioned to surpass him — and perhaps even snag the nomination for himself — when delegates are free in subsequent convention rounds to vote for whomever they want.

On Saturday, he nearly won 19 of 20 seats available in Maine, losing just one to a Trump backer: Gov. Paul LePage. He also won all nine delegates on the ballot in three Minnesota congressional districts, picking up support in the lone state won by Marco Rubio. Cruz also grabbed one of three delegates in South Carolina's 6th Congressional District, while the other two went to an uncommitted delegate and a supporter of Gov. John Kasich.

Cruz's biggest windfall, though, came from Utah, where at least 36 of 37 national delegates will be aligned with Cruz, who crushed Trump in the state's caucuses on March 22.
Once again, we see Ted Cruz schooling Donald Trump in "The Art of the Deal".

Uhhh. Nope.

You missed the most important sentence in that article you linked.
"Cruz's dominance may be for nothing. Trump's dominant victory in New York last week, along with expected victories across the northeast on Tuesday, put him on the cusp of earning the nomination without any convention drama in Cleveland."

You better hope so, because if Trump does not get 1,237 on the first ballot, he is not ever going to.

In any case, being "on the cusp," whatever that means exactly, is not at all the same as actually having the required number of delegates to win the nomination. Which Trump does not, nor does he appear in any way assured of getting them.

Oh wow. He won delegates in states that he won, and states that didn't get to vote. Whoop de doo. All of this means nothing if Trump gets the 1237 before the convention.

But let's play along. Let's pretend that Cruz gets enough to win the nomination. So what? He is never going to win against Hillary. "But the polls say..." The polls are horse crap. The Independents, the Dems, and the Trump supporters will not vote for Cruz. Apparently Cruz wants Hillary to win, because that is exactly what will happen if he were to somehow actually capture the nomination...which I doubt he will. I know the Hillary supporters want Cruz to get the nomination, because they also know that Cruz won't win. That's why Hillary supporters are all over this forum trashing on Trump and supporting Cruz.

There's no "hope" to it. Polling shows that Trump will have the required # of delegates and then some. And Cruz's attempts to circumvent the vote, is insuring this will be the case because it's exposing Cruz as a sleazy politician and hurting him in the polls.
  • Cruz has lost the Primary.
  • So Cruz says Vote doesn't matter.

And Trump is not going to be supported by about half of the Republican party, who regard him as a rude, crude, vulgar, dishonest, breathtakingly ignorant, violent, uncivil, pathologically narcissistic, entirely self absorbed, human turd of a man.

It would be far to shameful for most Republicans to contemplate trying to wake up and look at themselves in the mirror every morning for the rest of their lives after voting for the like of Donald Trump for President of the United States.

So clearly, if Trump fails to get to 1,237 on the first ballot, Ted Cruz might as well be given the opportunity to take his best shot.

This is an opinion. It's not supported by fact.

As you know very well, polling does not show anything of the kind. It is a demonstration of how desperate you must feel if you are reduced to presenting arguments you yourself know to be false in order to try to prop up the leader of the Donald Trump personality cult.

Again, you are forgetting the Independents and the Dems that have decided to vote for Trump. But keep living in your fantasy world that it's just Republicans who will be voting for him.
