The ideas of we're not the world's personal army / police force to be used like a bunch of idiots, strengthening our foreign capacity by focusing on strengthening ourselves, securing our borders, not defaulting to foreign intervention, not imposing our way of life on other countries (especially non western style ones that aren't best fit for western styles), and making sure that our dealings are reciprocated and appreciated are so obvious and on point that it's genius.
And this is why Trump will get a hell of a lot of democrats and independents voting for him. Some people still vote on who they like best as the candidate, not the party name.

I completely concur with Trump that we have been taken as free protections for years, received nothing for it, and in some cases, like the Saudis, are under the table hostile toward us.
I caught most of it. I think it's obvious that he's not used to speaking with a teleprompter, but I consider that a plus. I much prefer him when he's speaking off the cuff. I think there was a lot of substance in the speech and it focused on putting America first (for a change). Like, "Why do we protect the borders of other countries when we don't protect our own"? Good question. He also showed that he is prepared for the general election as he pointed out the many (obvious) failures of the Obama-Clinton policies (or lack of same). I think his speech will be well received by fair-minded voters.
He has to use a teleprompter when he knows nothing about the subject. He MUST read a speech written by someone else. He did it when he gave a speech on Ethanol subsidies in Iowa and again when he was giving a speech at AIPAC.

Literally because he pronounced Tanzania wrong and supposedly he is "bad at reading a teleprompter"? Sounds like more ignorance is strength perpetuation crap from the main stream media. Wharton must be so disappointed with their alumni that he forgot to take their teleprompter class.
I thought the speech was excellent, and left no doubt as to Trump's positions. How refreshing to have a candidate who plans to put the interests of our own country first.
You have to give Trump some credit when he deserves it. This wasn't a campaign rally speech nor short acceptance speech. It was a national foreign policy speech so he used a teleprompter like he should have. The fact that he may be uncomfortable using a teleprompter shows he's not your typical politician. More points for him.
