I would cautiously agree with that. The GOP has been acting crazy, but I think they realize that not getting behind Trump with a delegate majority would look really bad.

...and general election polls by mid April have been correct 2/3 of the time since 1952. We are in late April and Trump's unfavorables are still soaring and he gets destroyed by Hillary in every, single poll. He has ZERO chance in a general.

Running against Trump might be effectively putting things on easy mode, but Hillary tends to fall apart. Remember 2008? She really had no business losing to the relatively unknown Barack Obama ... but she did.
Easy for me, since I'm not voting for Hillary or Trump. I get to make a huge bag of popcorn and sit back and watch the chaos unfold.

He will get to 1237 but the current rules expire a week before the convention in July. They will change them and screw Trump out of the nomination, and I'll be laughing hysterically.

Your "predictions" have all been wrong so far. I knew as soon as I saw the first GOP debate that The Donald would be the nominee to challenge Hillary Clinton for the White House. And now we all know that's what'll happen. Even now with #NeverTrump, the GOP still hates Cruz and won't donate to him. Kasich refusing to leave the race, and getting all this support, further proves this. It's over.
Okay, so after sweeping the field on April 26 and picking up 123 more delegates (vs Cruz picking up 3 total), Trump now has 994 of the 1237 delegates needed to win the GOP nomination. There are 502 yet to be decided in primaries. Trump needs 243 of them. Just winning California's winner take all would give him 172. It looks like he's going to get there to me. He's leading in every state I can find numbers for and by huge margins -- except Montana. I think this race is officially over folks!
Full disclosure: I'm not a Trump supporter nor am I a Republican. But I am finding all the drama on the GOP side to be highly amusing.
What do you think? Will Trump hit 1237 and make all the contested convention business irrelevant? Will the GOP find a way to circumvent Trump's victory anyways? One things for certain, Trump's candidacy has guaranteed that we won't be bored this election year.
Trump needs 235. He doesn't even need half of them. I think it is entirely possible for Trump to hit the 1237.
At this point, I don't see how Mr. Trump cannot hit the mark, especially because there are a bunch of unbound delegates floating around.
The establishment can only change the convention rules, or put up an independent, conservative candidate.
