The Democratic primary in 2008 had record turnout. Just because the Primary turnout isn't at the 08 record setting levels doesn't mean it will impact General Election Turnout.
Trump is going to get absolutely DEMOLISHED in a General Election and he will likely lose NC along with it. McCoy will go down with him, and Burr might be in trouble as well. If it wasn't for the hyper Gerrymandering the GOP did in the state the Congressional Seats and state legislature would be in deep.
I don't know anything about NC, but am not convinced that the Trump shellacking will spread to the undercard. It will be interesting to see how much ticket splitting and not voting the top goes on. Jeb! and Graham appear to be suggesting this latter tactic for Republicans who are repulsed at the thought of Trump.

One thing to keep in mind, especially in regard to the Senate it is basically the opposite of 2014. In 2014 there were far more Democratic seats up than Republican ones, a bunch of them in swing or GOP leaning states. This year the opposite is true. 34 seats are up, 24 are Republican held, 10 are Democratic held and more of the GOP seats that are up are in swing states or states that lead the other way compared to the Democratic seats that are up. Combine that with the top of the ticket and you have a potential disaster in the making for the GOP in the Senate, much like 2014 was for the Democrats.
One-third of Republicans in Virginia will go third party, sit out or vote for Hillary if Trump is the nominee.
Truer words have never been spoken.."Some Trump supporters will wonder how Trump could win the Virginia primary and be such a disaster in the general. I hear this all the time and they don’t seem to realize it doesn’t matter how he does in the primary."
