..and would step down if Obama gets the nomination.

"I would simply be uncomfortable being in a campaign that would be inevitably attacking Barack Obama,"said McCain adviser Mark McKinnon in an interview with NPR's "All Things Considered."

While saying that he does not agree with Obama on every issue, McKinnon gushed about the Illinois Democrat.

"I met Barack Obama, I read his book, I like him a great deal," said McKinnon. "I disagree with him on very fundamental issues. But I think, as I said, I think it would a great race for the country."

I don't think saying you read someone's book and that you like them is "gushing." Surprising to actually see a Republican adviser with an ounce of morals...and sad that the general election has effectively turned into a bashing contest.

Again, i don't think any individual with some sense is gonna buy into this trickery which translates to voting for Hillary b/c there are so many attacks waiting to be unleashed on Obama.

What trickery? This is from an interview with McKinnon on NPR. I think it's pretty admirable of him to give kudos to Obama. Obama also gave praise to McCain during his speech the other night saying McCain was a "hero".

I too think the word "gushed" is a bit much, but that's ABC's blog, not my words.

It is sad. A McCain/Obama contest would hopefully be somewhat intellectual. Ideally they would focus on trashing each other's opinions rather than resorting to personal attacks. A McCain/Hillary contest would just be dirrrrty. I have to admit I would kinda enjoy watching them flay each other.

Hey, read the script: i can't quote it but it pretty much says he will resign if Obama is nominated b/c he can't stand there and watch republicans attack him as he admires his personality but not the fundamentals......there is nothing hidden here.
