Condoleezza Rice is a highly qualified and capable individual that could do a great job as VP. The fact she's a black woman shouldn't be used to qualify or disqualify her as a candidate.
It has been like this since identity politics started working for Democrats. I believe it has been this way for quite some time.

When I am evaluating people for something, the last thing that crosses my mind is their race/gender/sexual preference/trans-vs-cisgender status, etc.

It's very patronizing but, in their defense, it works so the fault lies with the people who fall for the trick.
