Actually, my heroes include the 1,500 men who endured brutal torture while POW's, and the nearly 58,000 men and women whose names are on a long, black wall in Washington, D.C. No one asked them their political leanings when they were sent to Vietnam. Hippies with peace symbols on their boonie hats served with clean-cut conservatives.
Any other name calling? I'll bet Trumpy will come up with a few if he's pressed on why he wasn't drafted....and someone else went in his place.

McCain served with other guys who went through torture at the hanoi hilton while trump was lounging in his hotel room with hookers.
Trump insulted all vets who ever risked capture and torture, with that swipe at McCain.
Now McCain supports Trump and all that he represents. Amazing.
McCain was a traitor who did what the North Vietnamese wanted him to do (make a radio broadcast reading their script) and -- later, with John "the equally phony 'hero' and traitor" Kerry (just ask his Mekong Delta swift boat comrades) -- threw the families of POW/MIA families under the bus.
And -- so sorry -- just getting captured doesn't make you a hero.
But I will give McCain credit for serving -- UNLIKE you lib draft dodgers and traitors to America!
The weird part is they think he's going to keep his promises with regard to building a wall and kicking out 11 million people and barring people based on religious tests, etc.
They see for themselves that he lies about everything, yet they think he's going to keep his promises with regard to their racial wet dreams...
The guy is dangerous because he's an authoritarian narcissist who appeals to and "legitimizes" people's worst instincts...
...But there's zero indication that he'll keep any of his campaign promises, good or bad...

Bill Clinton didn't serve. W. Bush didn't serve. Obama didn't serve. Hillary, Secretary of State, didn't serve in the military. Neither did any of their kids or grandchildren.
Perhaps our leader's lack of personal knowledge of what war does to families is part of the reason why America has been at war and losing young men and women to a futile effort for more than a decade.

Well, I'm sure you rushed to join the Marines when you were 18, and totally understand that what doctors say about recruits can be -- and is -- ignored.
What stopped him from enlisting? Just because there was no draft at the time doesn't mean that he couldn't voluntarily enlist.
Same with Hillary. She, too, could have enlisted.
Please correct me if I'm wrong ... but didn't the shrill once claim to have tried to enlist in the Marines?
