Elizabeth Warren will be 71 in 2020. Democrats need to look to younger candidates like Julian Castro or Cory Booker. Others we are not discussing right now will also probably emerge.

Likely GOP contenders- Paul Ryan, Nikki Haley, and Ted Cruz of course.

Does anyone see Jeb running again?

I'll have to get back to you on that; I know very little about Ayotte.

Nope! That whole 'low energy' thing just got to him. I'm not convinced he really wanted the job anyway.

Ever since she won NH for Senate been reading articles here and there about her. I hope the RNC doesn't dump her. Know she is in a tough Senate race this year, but if she wins hopefully decide to run for Presidency. A modern day Roosevelt I feel. The two Republicans from Iowa and West Virginia are interesting. One focuses more on state rights over a larger federal rights. The other is a more leaning left right politician similiar to John McCain.

Kelly Ayotte is pretty much in lockstep with the GOP platform. I don't really see there being any real comparison between Ayotte and Hillary for anyone who votes based on issues.

As for the original question, I think it's not realistic to predict now. 4 years ago, I might have said Chris Christie was locking up that early lead for the nomination but that didn't exactly happen. Whoever the VP nominees are this year will affect it as well, although of course Paul Ryan chose not to run. I'd say either of them is likely to make a run in 2020 if Hillary wins. Otherwise, I think it's likely that even if Trump wins, he will be a 1 term president just based on his age and his obviously flagging energy just getting through the campaign, so whoever is his VP would be the prohibitive favorite.

Possibly the same on the other side, and if Hillary won and decided to stop at 1 term, her VP would be the most likely VP candidate. Or even if she didn't win, her VP might be the most obvious choice for 2020, at least in terms of the discussions that will happen in 2017. But politics isn't static so who knows what will happen between now and 2019, when things will start to get more than just purely speculative.

And whoever mentioned Elizabeth Warren's age, yes, I think she's not going to run in 2020, when she'd be older than everyone this year is except Bernie.

I'm pretty sure Hillary will want to be a two term president so I find unlikely anybody other than her will be the nominee in 2020 should she win. She's still younger than what Reagan was.

Kelly Ayotte has to win her senate race this year to have any chance of being successful in 2020.

A lot of people claim to like Rand Paul, but (like his father) he doesn't do very well in primaries. I would have loved to see Rand Paul win the nomination and think he would have been competitive but too many people benefit from big government -- another reason Cruz lost.
