Mitt Romney may be considering endorsing Gary Johnson, if he does that will be a big deal as it will put Utah into play. Johnson is already polling at 16% in Utah and it was his best showing in the 2012 election. Trump is in the lead in Utah, but only manages 29%, Clinton is at 26%.

Regardless of how this election turns out, it should be exciting.

Very interesting. I also noticed that the Johnson campaign is headquartered in Salt Lake City, despite it being a ticket of a New Mexico and Massachusetts governor. This may have been in the works for some time. If Gary Johnson can take Utah, he may be able to either win outright, or come in 2nd in a large number of western and New England states. Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Colorado and Minnesota would be my picks if I had to bet, in that order. A Romney endorsement would probably secure Utah since they think of that man as the messiah over there.

I'm not a fan of Romney, but he is very influential with Mormons. If he gets his endorsement a win in Utah becomes probable and will push him to be a contender in many other states.

I'd forgotten their campaign is headquartered in SLC, but it does make sense in more ways then one.

The Libertarian ticket is incredibly thought out this year. Johnson can get the libertarian vote and pull some conservatives and Weld can pull a lot of moderates. Johnson is breaking 20% with independents and Hispanics. He's been in 2nd place in 3 key demographics, independents (beating Hillary), Hispanics (beating Trump), and African Americans (beating Trump).

Mitt is doing his best to single-handedly lose two elections.

Maybe libertarians will double their previous record in the general and get 2% of the popular vote.

That would be great but Romney is delusional if he thinks he has any relevance. He is just being petty that Trump is doing better than he did.

I have a cousin who is a Mormon and he is actually very libertarian, he's supported Ron Paul and then more recently Rand Paul, and he voted for Romney as well. He's doesn't partake in anything he considers a drug, but he'd prefer a libertarian world to a liberal world. He lives in Park City.

Romney is popular and influential to Mormons. He may have near zero influence in say Florida, but in Utah his endorsement will matter.

At least Romney has a conscious and is his own man. He's not going to get bought like Carson or Christie.
