I also notice there's not ONE place selling Bernie or Hillary stuff and I don't see any of it around.

Why is that I wonder?

I then thought maybe it was because Bernie and Hillary people are too cheap or that they expect it for free?

Is that why it's not around, they couldn't find vendors willing to do it for nothing?
It's pretty simple.

Many Trump supporters are looking for an identity. A cause in which to belong. Like sports, that means the supporters feel they have to wear gear. This isn't meant to be an insult, but many of his supporters tend to be lower-class and white, and that demographic love to buy "identity" gear. NASCAR, Bass Pro Shops, etc.

That's the opposite of Hillary.

I don't really understand why you think Hillary supporters are cheap, when she has been bought and paid for by the billionaires on Wall Street. Maybe her supporters aren't tacky enough to buy "gear" from a roadside stand? Or, you know, they aren't stopping on the side of the road. They get police escorts into her rallies and sit in suites.

Part of it is due to the conservative love of display. Many seem to have a deep need of wearing their discontent literally on their sleeves, or displaying it with bumper stickers, signs, or whatever.

If a liberal puts out one flag on a flag holiday, a conservative will set out 20, just to show he's extra, extra patriotic or something.

I don't know why this is, but it is. Democrats talk, Republicans wear signage.

Lawn signs and bumper stickers are both things from the past now. The internet is where all the display stuff resides and where the most of the money allocated for advertising goes.

Everything always changes. Back when I was a kid, folks wore candidate buttons on their lapels, never T-shirts, and ball caps weren't popular except for kids and folks who wanted a shady brim on a cap. Most adults wore a full hat if they wanted a head cover.

Maybe the Hillary/Bernie supporters just don't want to pay for anything?

What I found interesting is independent vendors, like those that work at fairs/festivals are out there making seemingly good $$$$ selling Trump stuff but there's not one Hillary/Bernie vendor out there that I've seen/heard about.
I guess I just get a bit confused about who Hillary supporters are. I see things posted that they are people who can't afford a shirt. Then I see that they are Wall Street fat cats and CEOs who have more money than they know what to do with. What about the people like me who fall in the middle and support Hillary? Could it actually be that she has some support from all across the spectrum?

Or could it be that threads get started about basically nothing just to provide a place to denigrate those with opposite political views?

Trump is hawking merchandise because his campaign is in shambles and he needs to make money for the campaign by selling merchandise. This is especially true since the big money donors don't want to be associated with Trump, because of all the negative comments he said. Trump's too cheap to spend his own money, so he sells overpriced merchandise that his followers care about - T-shirts and trucker hats. I wouldn't be surprised to later find out that Trump figured out a way to keep the profits from the merchandise sales to pay himself back from the primary loan, rather than use that money for the general election campaign.

Hillary supporters mostly don't wear trucker hats and T-shirts, BTW, since many are women. The Trump gear is more in line with the blue collar 'mad at the world' uneducated Trump supporters. There are a lot of Republicans that don't wear T-shirts and trucker hats either. These are the GOP that weren't on Trump's side in the beginning. They aren't even sure they want to support Trump now, even though they are still Republicans. These folks won't go near a Trump rally and wouldn't wear a Trump shirt or hat if it was given to them for free.

Are Trump supporters the same people who bought all that Palin crap back in 08 and then threw the stuff in the trash 6 months later? If so, I guess we will see in increase in Trump trash after Nov. 4th.

Among other things, showing Trump colors just lets people be racist without having to use the N-word.
