We can all agree that the 2016 presidential election between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is a very disenchanted election. Yes, they are alternatives, the Libertarian Gary Johnson and the Green Party's Jill Stein. However, either Clinton or Trump will be the 45th president, and they will demand respect whether you like it or not. However, I feel that the 2020, 2024, and 2028 elections will be better than this one.

It's sad that the nation has been brought to this level. However, the nation gets distracted from Kardashians, and other crap. That's why this is happening.

Well yeah the whole Trump thing seems to be like a bunch of people decided that it would be fun to turn the election into a reality TV show.

oh, sure it will. Money/the bought off nature of politics will magically cure itself by then. And I heard about the same time the tooth fairy and the easter bunny will finally join in the halls of fantasy land too in a bunny/fairy land magical misty moment. And we'll get more of the serious types who lie with smiles and false promises who are indeed "qualified, oh yes yes yes, the herd wants more more more!

oh, still interested in that ocean front place in Iowa bingo3000?

True respect cannot be demanded. It must be earned.

If there is such a thing as "Elections." If the Liberals have their way, there will not be any. They will "Appoint" Leaders by Committee. Its almost there now, with Delegates and Super Delegates, who are the Lapdogs of their Perspective Party, for the most part. Americans may not like it, and may want to revolt, but an unarmed Population is of little threat and can only complain. We already have one Party who has Leadership that does not respect the votes of the people already, and are trying to "Appoint" a Presidential Candidate. The other Party fixed their Appointee by giving her Truckloads of Delegates that her opponent could not get. So you can't say it will never happen. WE are on our way to that point right now.

Trump is not feared because of his "Radical" ideas. He is feared because he would be a Monkey wrench in the gears these folks are turning. The folks in Power want to stay in power, and control. They are afraid Trump will wake up America, from the Stupor that the people in power have placed them in, by making them believe they know what's best for the people and therefore should make all decision based on what they want, and not what the people want.

Your post is retarded. Superdelegates did not give Hillary the nomination. She won more states and millions more votes.

Clinton is a legitimate politician, though one with lots of negative baggage for much of the population. Trump is presenting himself as a cartoon character. The optimistic view is that this election will serve as a kind of colonic for the country, leading to a healthier political climate in future years. The pessimistic view is that we have passed into a new era where the more outrageous and attention-mongering candidates are, the better their chances are - that the lowest common denominator will prevail.

Time will tell, but it seems apparent that we are headed for more disharmony between the legislative branch and the executive branch regardless of who wins. That worries me, because an obstructionist, inactive Congress simply yields more power to the president, and ultimately the Supreme Court. Just look at how much latitude presidents have been given in war time, since Congress has refused to declare war for 75 years.
