Wait - did he really say "efficient" in reference to the killing? If what saddam did was 'efficient', then y'all shouldn't be whining about the collateral damage done by drone strikes. Or, because all those folks are probably muslims, it is ok with you.

I don't understand......we should hold our leaders to the same standards we hold foreign leaders in other countries?
We can't complain about our indiscriminate killing that puts American's in danger unless we condemn Saddam for killing those we are now fighting?
Are you trying to say that Saddam was wrong but we are right?
His only goal at this point seems to be constant media coverage. It's hard to believe he is actually trying to win an election.
I think he wants to win but not be a president, like half term Sarah Palin he'd pick up and leave when the going got tough. His ethics and moral values work in the lower keys thus he says things like he admires dictators because he actually does admire dictators for their control over people. If it was just about getting himself daily media attention and his ethics and more values were in the upper keys he'd be getting that attention in ways that uplift people (in a Bill Gates kind of way). Trump's idea of what it takes to make America great is ugly, divisive and unAmerican.
Trump stumbled upon the truth with this statement about Saddam Hussein. Guys like Hussein, Assad and Qaddaffi understand the Muslim extremist mind better than Westerners do. The region was safer when guys like that were in charge. It was a smart policy to support "our" dictator during the Cold War and it would be a smart policy now.
I notice that after Trump made that statement, Eddie Munster Jr. had to rush out and condemn Trump. Not sure what Ryan was trying to do; possibly salvage the liberal intervention policy that is shared by the Republicans and Democrats, or maybe trying to protect Bush's legacy.
Was Saddam Hussein a good guy? Hell no. He gassed Kurds and did a lot of other bad stuff. But America was more secure with Hussein in charge, and that should be the only consideration given to our foreign policy.
The truth of the matter is that we learned too late that only these heinous dictators can handle these uncivilized people. The killing of Saddam and pulling out of Iraq by Obama too early allowed a gap in government which allowed the terrorists to take over.

Early?
When Obama took office we'd already wasted 6 years in Iraq and the allegedly well trained Iraqi Army had a lovely habit of running away from battle. Obama should've pulled the plug on his first day in office and let the Iraqis sink or swim on their own. If nothing else Vietnam should have taught us the folly of fighting for those who won't fight for themselves.
This thread is funny. For years the nutty Left has been saying that Saddam should have been left alone because he dealt with the extremists well, now that Trump said it it's all of a sudden a bad bad notion. Hypocritical hacks..

No, we should have left Saddam alone because NO WHERE does the Constitution task us with policing the world and Saddam presented no threat to the US. It was the nutty, cockamamie NeoConfuseds who told us what a noble thing it was spending American blood and taxpayer $$$ fighting to bring democracy to Iraq but should you dare suggest we buy a Band-Aid for an American they'd be screaming SOCIALIST! in a NY minute!
