Because Trump and some of his supporters think that Americans who watch football can't possibly prioritize. Sad!

Manafort is a slick talking, no-good, two-faced lawyer. Lied about obvious plagiarism by Trump'supporters slutty wife.

I understand you're upset that your side lost this battle.

Back to the drawing board.

Get over this fantasy that Americans are glued to their TVs for football games. Prime time network shows get more viewers than NFL games.

Trump lied when he said the NFL complained to him about debate schedule. They didn't.
I agree (also with smash555).

The 2012 debates had similar conflicts. Yet, people watched. I certainly did. I certainly will this fall.

It is sad that the Trump supporters, if given a choice between watching their candidate debate or watching professional football*, will choose the latter. "Sorry Donald", they will say, "We love you, but, after all, the Giants are playing!".

*I gave up on professional football around 1981 (if I recall), when the players union went out on strike. Even if I were so inclined, ticket prices have gotten so ridiculously high, I often wonder whom the attending audience is.

It used to be said, in the 80s, that football was a game played by rich men and watched by millionaires.

Now that average season salary for a player is 1.9 million, it is a game played by millionaires, on teams owned by billionaires, in stadiums paid for by taxpayers, in which many of said taxpayers are priced out of even going to the game.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commis...ential_Debates
The CPD sponsors and produces debates for the United States presidential and vice presidential candidates and undertakes research and educational activities relating to the debates. The organization, which is a nonprofit corporation controlled by the Democratic and Republican parties, has run each of the presidential debates held since 1988. The Commission is headed by Frank Fahrenkopf, a former head of the Republican National Committee, and former White House press secretary Michael D. McCurry.
He flat out lied again on the Sunday shows about it - stating he received a letter from the NFL! Then the NFL said no such letter was ever sent.

This is just another Trump tactic to get out of debating Hillary. I KNEW he would do exactly this - as did all of you.

That's why they attempted to fix the schedule for Hillary.

Manafort said they will work exclusively with the President
of the Debate Commission to ensure no conflict with NFL.

Donald can make a big issue out of this.

If they think they can play chicken with Trump, they will lose.
Yes - because Donald IS a chicken and all this is just made up BS so Trump can slither away. He can't stand the thought of being beaten by a woman.

Tell me - who IS on the Debate Commission?

Trump is so uneducated and off base it isn't funny anymore. The debate schedule was set by the bi-partisan commission before the primaries, before anyone knew who would win them.

Did anybody even really know who the candidate would be when the schedule was set in September of 2015.

This bipartisan commission still tries to one up the other side.

Give the debates back to the LWV.

This is nothing more than his attempt to get out of a debate with Hillary. He talks big talk but can't walk the big walk.

He knows she would DESTROY him in any debate.

I find it disgusting that people like yourself are still saying such derogatory things about women - if you're a Dem, shame on you. Have you spent any significant time with Mrs. Trump to make such a statement?

Donald Trump and RNC attack presidential debate schedule - Jul. 30, 2016

The first debate of 2016, slated for September 26, coincides with "Monday Night Football" on ESPN.
The vice presidential debate is scheduled one week later on October 4, a Tuesday.
The second presidential debate, on October 9, coincides with "Sunday Night Football" on NBC.
The final debate is slated for October 19, a Wednesday.

NFL games are played on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays in the fall. Fridays and Saturdays are effectively ruled out because TV viewing is lower on weekend evenings. That only leaves Tuesdays and Wednesdays. One complication was Yom Kippur on Tuesday, October 11 and Wednesday, October 12.
