Avalon's summary is spot on. This is one weird political convention. Whether this convention is a wake up call or signals the demise of the GOP remains to be seen.

It is the theme of the convention "Make Us One". Well, it used to be a lot better, thus Trump wanting to make America Great Again. I am 61 years old and I remember when America was great, respected, a country to be proud of with opportunities, real opportunities. I saw race relations max out, I thought in the 60s, only to see the Democratic Party revive it in the last 8 years. People are seeing it as they open their eyes now.
I remember John F. Kennedy. I thought he was just all that as a child. I remember "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Boy, has the Democratic Party changed to a party of separate and conquer.
Yes, the country is coming together and that is being demonstrated in the meltdown of the two party system that is now in play. People are dropping labels and grabbing onto "We are ALL Americans." We are now fighting to save our country and that will unite us.
