I have heard quite a few Democrats where I am from in NY state say that HRC has NY in the bag so they would not be voting for President this year. Basically, stating she will win NY without their vote and they personally do not want to pull the lever for her. Letting themselves off the hook. So if things go awry they can always say "well I did not vote for her"..
So the other day I am in the car with my HUGE Democrat husband who up until then had been voting for HRC (initially a Bernie supporter) and he says "you know what, I am not voting at all for President. I will vote for lower tickets. I am not a huge HRC fan, actually I do not like her at all. So I am sitting this one out. Does not matter though because she will win NY anyway"..
My point is, is this a trend? Will some democrats just not vote because they think she will win anyway without their vote?

No, because staying home would be a tacit support of Trump.

I am not talking about swing states. I am talking about states that democrat voters feel secure that their vote will not matter. Will those voters stay home thinking she will win anyway but at least I will not personally be involved in getting her there?
I hear this a lot in NY (which is blue no matter what). MANY democrats are not voting at all. They do not like her enough.

I live in NY as well, voted for Bernie in the Primary and will vote for her in the General. Havent heard the will stay home or only vote for down ballot races, even from other Bernie supporters who aren't happy with Clinton.

You know, this might have been the case if her opponent was anyone other than Donald Trump. He has enough people horrified at the thought of a Trump presidency that they will come out to vote to make sure that doesn't happen.

I imagine that some 66 to 68 million supports of Hillary Rodham Clinton will end up voting.

As for Donald John Trump, I worry that many of his supporters will not turn out, given those polls that show him leading Ms. Clinton by 52+ points.

The question of the day is not if Hillary supporters will stay home. It more of will the general electorate stay home. I think they will. Though We will see.

Again, no. Staying home is a tacit support of Trump.

Yup. Trump is doing a GREAT job of getting out the vote for Clinton.

The "both-parties-are-the-same" meme is more associated with the right-wing than the left.
