Romney did it and didn't get elected.
Bush Sr did it and didn't get re-elected.
Trump's doing it and hopefully the trend will continue. He's basically doing exactly what he criticized current politicians of doing during the primary season. Politicians will say and do things to get elected and stay elected.
Deporting criminals is a bad idea. The reason why we don't do it now is because they usually aren't jailed in the countries they are deported to -- then they find their way back to the USA.
If they are criminal illegals and they are in prison, they need to stay there and not be deported.
Yes, it would be stupid to deport criminals to their home country scot free until they serve their prison time in the US first.. And that's what happens now.
