They are doing like trump is alleged to be doing to prepare for the debates, y'know, on the surface he is planning his 'zingers', but secretly actually studying (or not, since the trumpist guy who was just on CNN a little while ago said he didn't have to prepare in order to win)... making it look like they are planning to vote R, when in actuality they are planning to vote for any of the three other party candidates.
Silver described his partisan orientation as follows in the FAQ on his website: "My state [Illinois] has non-partisan registration, so I am not registered as anything. I vote for Democratic candidates the majority of the time (though by no means always). This year, I have been a supporter of Barack Obama"
