I thought he sucked. Should stick to Today--that's his limit.

If he'd kissed up to Hillary and blasted Trump you'd be singing his praises this morning. Instead Matt Lauer gored everyone's ox and ticked off everybody. That's good journalism.

I didn't see it. During the event did anyone call attention to that ear piece in Clintons ear?

Yes, Melania and Ivanka rushed the stage and tried to pull it from her ear while shouting that they knew the retail price of Clinton's outfit and that it wasn't made in America.

On the other hand, I didn't see or hear Hillary cough once, so there's that.

I had no issue with how he pressed Hillary. She handled his questions well, but was unfortunately contained to more limited time discussing foreign policy. Thankfully she easily demonstrated her masterful knowledge of the subject. Lauer's mistake with her was spending so much time on the email issue.

I did feel he let Trump off easy given the limited challenges he presented and the "softball" questions he tossed him. However, I also think there is a reason for that. Lauer (who I sincerely doubt is a Trump fan) could have buried him multiple times. The issue is that he would have very much come off like he was "attacking" him and given Trump another excuse to claim media bias and excuse himself from future forums/debates. Lauer had to walk the line in showing Trump's lack of knowledge on the subject while hinting at his "flip-flopping" and lies, but not pressing so hard that he would make Trump look like a complete idiot in the first national forum.

So, basically, he pressed Hillary because he could, he went easier on Trump because Trump couldn't handle the more intense questions and he didn't want to provide the excuse for Trump to further scream media bias and excuse himself from future debates.

He hasn't left NBC for ABC. It's not that bad yet.

No I would not, and with all due respect, please don't tell me how I would be reacting because you really do not know.

He sucked. He's not a hard news guy--he's in infotainment. He rushed through his list of questions, barely allowing time for an answer before he started on the next one. It was a bad format with not enough time.

We learned nothing about the subject the forums were supposed to be about except that Trump is not very well informed on foreign affairs and he has a secret plan to beat ISIS that he will get from "his" generals, even though he knows so much more than they do.

Sorry--I remembered afterwards that he is on Today.

Frankly, I don't watch any of them, so they are one big blur. I do remember reading a big article on the backroom workings of NBC News--and fun fact--he is exceptionally unpopular there.

Exactly, I was waiting for him to ask the candidates to participate in a fun cooking segment or try their hand at giving the weather forecast. Lauer should stick to what suits his talents, introducing the latest viral videos and doing light banter between lifestyle/celebrity stories.

I guess you see what you want to see. I'm not voting for either candidate, so I don't have a dog in this fight, but Trump looked terrible. You can blame his performance on the media all you want, but for a guy who claims to be so savy with the media he didn't do well.
