A college law professor believes that there is legal grounds in our Constitution to impeach Donald Trump if he is elected and is then found guilty in any of the Trump University lawsuits and investigations. He writes that an impeachable offense does not have to come through criminal court so the civil trials are enough. Here is a quote from the article:

"·Fraud and racketeering are serious crimes. Both fraud and racketeering are considered felonies under state and federal law. First-degree fraud is punishable by up to four years in prison in Trump’s home state of New York. Racketeering is punishable by up to 20 years in prison under federal law.
·Civil cases can legally inform Congress on whether impeachment is justified. The U.S. Constitution has never required criminal conviction prior to impeachment proceedings.
·Impeachment for pre-incumbency conduct is legally permissible under the U.S. Constitution. Nothing in the Constitution’s text requires impeachable conduct to have occurred while the president is in office. The framers rejected alternative formulations of impeachable offenses that included limitations to incumbent activity."

Here is my question. Since Donald Trump is accused of scamming people out of $40 million dollars for his phony real estate school why doesn't he just return the money to the people who paid to take his real estate courses ? It may be a lot of money to most people but not to Donald Trump. I do not mean to say it will make the investigation go away but it will certainly make the angry Trump University victims a lot happier.

I don't even know what to say to such utter nonsense.

Isn't it sad that both major candidates could be impeached for crimes already committed? Except we live in a Banana Republic where are overlords are pretty much above most laws.

But what was Hillary or Bill Clinton ever convicted of in any court to justify impeachment? You do not believe the Democrats in Congress, and many of the American people would not want a Republican president found guilty of fraud impeached? You know how this will go down.

Trump has committed no crime.

It is a civil suit, one he could have easily settled, but didn't because his lawyer believe he will likely win.

Yes and Yes. It is very sad. Neither of these candidates are up to our standards in many ways. We deserve better.

democrats make up silly things......if Bill Clinton wasn't impeach for lying under oath in a sexual harassment case, nobody will be impeach on a civil case.

This is how stupid and desperate they sound.

Would be quite something if both go to prison.
