I think he might have. He might be too conservative for some but he would have kept on message, kept the attack on Hillary, and not making any self inflicted wound really.
Ted would have gotten crushed by a massive landslide. Trump was the better choice.
He is too far to the right on the ideological scale. The American electorate's ideologies are distributed like a bell curve. Too far to one end, and you won't get enough votes. And no one likes him, he is too annoying and ugly, and his dad is a nut. Nothing personal, don't hate the messenger.
I don't believe that Cruz would have even kept it close. His creepy persona and his fundy evangelical beliefs turn off a lot of people. He would have been a perfect Republican in the 80s, when the Religious Right was riding high. The culture has shifted too far for Cruz to be a viable national candidate.
I think Kasich, Rubio or Bush would have won big versus Clinton.

Sorry.

I don't think Cruz could have pulled it off either. Not only is it too far down the tail of the bell curve, but I agree with Boehner, Cruz is a "miserable SOB."
I think it would have been the same. Cruz was way too extreme right. I am an independent and if had to choose between Cruz and Trump, I'd choose Trump and Trump is an a$$hole but Cruz it an outright nutcase IMO.
I do believe that Rubio or Kasich would have beat HRC though.
Ted is too much Torquemada, the inquisitor who tortured and burned all heretics at the stake.
Torquemada wasn't respected. He was feared. Cruz is neither respected nor feared, but he sure wants to be.
Once in the Senate, he was ignored and despised. And now, his Senate re-election chances are dimming.
Rightly so. Cruz comes across as the oily creep who makes a pass at your girlfriend by quoting Bible verses in a high whiny voice.
What am I missing? Isn't Rubio sharing that same spot on the bell curve? I think Rubio would've beat her, and I think Cruz would've beat her.
....which is why I'm very glad the GOP presented The Great Pumpkin instead.
