Accuracy and the whole story don't matter in a campaign. Once the narrative is set, it's nearly impossible to reverse the trend. Does Trump want to win, or not ? Going on these lengthy diatribes to defend himself is a waste. If he wants to deal with alleged comments he made 20 years ago, leave Machado out of it and quote what Hillary and her mouthpieces said about women.
I agree. What really is scary is how the media controls the narrative.

You might think Trump with his 'mastery of the media' would have had a clue as to how this would play out and keep his mouth shut and his fingers off his phone

The media was interviewing her BEFORE the debate and getting ready for the media blitz. They would have ran with the stories whether or not Trump kept his mouth shut and his fingers off his phone (even though I agree he should do more of both).
Ah yes, let's find as many faults with the girl as we can so calling her "Miss Piggy," and "Eating Machine" and "Miss Housekeeping" are suddenly justified.

" -- Operatives in Brooklyn had been working with Machado since the summer. They had a video featuring her story ready to go. Cosmopolitan had a photo spread of her draped in an American flag – to go with a profile – in the can. Machado had also conducted an interview with The Guardian that was “apparently embargoed for post-debate release,” according to Vox. And the Clinton super PAC Priorities USA turned a digital ad to highlight the insults by early afternoon."

This is so on the Donald and his campaign staff. If this really was out there hanging in mid-air since the summer why didn't someone in the Donald's campaign plan on a good counter stratagy. The Donald only hires the best people, he has told us so many times. Any reasonable person could have cut this off the minute it was brought up. I'll leave it to you all to figure out what kind of person can't seem to apologize and say they have learned from their past mistakes. Even if he doesn't mean it, its the one lie in his sea of lies that could actually do him some good but he is too dim to see it. Spin on cult members. You're giving me several great laughs each and every day.
