The time they are a-changin' on the Eastern front of the new Cold War. Putin has decided to pull out of the historic agreement with the US, which required both sides to destroy 34 tons of weapons grade plutonium. For Russia, that is enough material for 8500 new nukes. Apparently Vladimir was upset that the USA and the EU imposed sanctions after Russia's land grab of Crimea, and this was his retribution.

Russia suspends weapons-grade plutonium deal with US - BBC News

The timing is very interesting given the upcoming US election. Putin is far from stupid. He is shrewd enough to recognize that we are weakening our resolve against Russia, especially given the recent comments from Trump about his admiration for Putin as a leader; not to mention that he has talked more than once about eroding the NATO alliance.

Vladimir sees the emergence of Trump as a unique opportunity to modernize his army and boost his offensive capabilities; why not, since Trump has more or less given him the nod? If Trump wins the election? Break out the Svarovski, it will be party time in the Kremlin.

Of course, you'd keep all the weaponry you have if you think Trump is going to have his short finger on the button.

Trump's going to take sides with Putin instead of the USA. Trump loves Putin more than Trump loves the USA. This is very clear. He would do whatever Putin requests and Trump's excuse for siding with Russia is to blame Obama(even when the issue has nothing to do with Obama).

A vote for Trump is a vote for Putin.

You just watch Trump's response for this issue - he is going to praise Putin for being a good leader and he's going to side with Putin. Watch.

Means nothing. In fact, which candidate is more likely to be able to negotiate a new agreement, the negotiator Trump or Hillary for which only a handful, if that many, have any respect for her. If we don't stop her, being the incompetent that she is, the foreign leaders will because they won't put up with her crap which will cause us endless problems.

I think some of the countries don't want to or have the money to "pay to play", so are probably planning ahead.

This is in direct response to Obama placing nuclear capable missiles near the border of Russia. This is a violation of the disarmament agreements with Russia.

God, if you dems were even slightly informed you would have never posted this, it is a complete damnation of Obama's reckless in endanger the entire planet by escalating nuclear tensions.

If the better relations involve relinquishing the Western Hemisphere to our friends the Russians, you're probably right; let's elect Trump by all means. All depends on what your definition of better is.

I would bet my bottom dollar (at least any that I have left that are not going to pay Donald's share of income tax) that Trump gives this his usual nod-and-a-wink. Not sure I totally understand the relationship between Trump and Putin but something sure smells rotten there.

I guess you didn't read the article. Putin stated directly this was in response to the US and EU sanctions being placed against Russia for acquiring Crimea. Do you support Russia in their invasion and occupation of an independent nation? That's what you are implying. How about Russia invading Ukraine? Would that be OK?

Watching the overnight conversion of doves to hawks is always amusing. Putin is breaking his deal with Obama, not Trump.
