Having a president in office who isn't a member of either of the two major parties would change the dynamic in terms of their interaction with Congress - likely to the benefit of Americans at large. Gary Johnson isn't my ideal candidate on some issues, but compared to both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump he exudes far more decency, integrity, and willingness to recognize the limitations of the presidential office. He even has executive experience as a governor which isn't true of either of the two front-runners.
I'm among those hoping Johnson can earn 5% of the popular vote so the Libertarian party can be a more viable option in future election cycles and lessen the situation of two-party dominance. But I agree with the pundits (and most standard opinions) that whether we like it or not, Hillary Clinton is on track to become the next president.
