I believe the women in the NY Times article are telling the truth. Why did they wait so long to talk about it? Maybe because our society tends to blame the victims or minimize what happened. Maybe they wanted to try to forget it had ever happened, because it made them feel so unclean and violated (especially the woman he groped in first class). Perhaps they tried not to think about it up until the point that he straight up lied on national television about never doing such things, and then they got angry. It had to take a lot of courage to speak up, knowing that many people are going to make accusations that they're lying or they got paid or... Well, take your pick.
