Becoming Republican in name only (ie: practically democrat) just to be able to say that the "Republicans" hold office is no victory. It's an early concession of complete defeat. Even if only a small group of true conservatives hold their values and are not electable, then at least the values survive for the chance in the future to be resurrected on a larger scale. However, if the values and platforms are eliminated then the chance for their revival is eliminated.

Don't forget the lack-of-legitimacy argument, wherein conservatives have only been out-numbered due to lying over the intended results of the 1965 immigration act, massive illegal immigration, and now we have an admission, on video, of 50 years of democratic voter fraud (bussing in voters). Don't think for a second that the illegitimate usurption of the demographic mantle will create a firm political foundation for a democrat "values" mandate.

Last, comparing modern immigrants to previous immigrant waves is not comparable. We were never before importing masses of illiterates from third world hell holes.

Of course they could win the general election. Had they run a center right person of decent character (Ex: Kasich. Who, yes I know to the tea party is a Marxist). The Democrats would be looking at defending some of the light blue states.

Sigh. What do you think Italy was in 1900? Or the Palatinate in 1750? Rich people are not common immigrants. yes they happen, but are the exception.

Get rid of the religious nonsense and go back to Teddy Roosevelt style Republicans and they can win.

I think the Iraq Invasion of 2003 is why the GOP is in its current situation. Before that the GOP won the college educated vote by a good margin, but the war tarnished the GOP's image for people like me who were in our teens or 20s during that time. The war pushed 90% of young better educated people towards the Democrats. In 2016 that most primary voters in the GOP were working class older people, who could now push a guy like Trump through to the general election.

The combination of Trump's destruction of the Republican Party, along with continued general elections losses, will eventually make the GOP a small regional party. There will eventually be a mass exodus of Republicans (especially younger and more moderate leaning) leaving for the growing Libertarian Party. Rand Paul will represent the LP as their presidential nominee in 2024.

Agree or disagree?
If you would take the time to see through the media misinformation this cycle you would see that the Republicans already changed their platform...from the globalism of Romney, McCain, Bush to the nationalism of Pat Buchanan (albeit packaged rather awkwardly in Mr. Trump).

Notice how everyone wants to keep it about the so called religious ones and the GOP. While ignoring how Hillary ousted Bernie.......cheated and bought her way to the top of the ticket, Trump won by being nominated by the people.

I have no problem seeing the GOP implode.

What have they done for us in the last few decades?

Is the Democrat party worse? Yes; however, I need a party that is productive, and as long as the GOP is the default "opposition" to the Democrats, nothing will change.

The left desire greater government control and less individual rights and freedoms, so they are essentially represented by both major parties.

Default Republicans will never win the White House unless they change their platform?

I don't care if a Republican wins, or not, as long as the winner is not a Democrat/Liberal.
