Pope Francis on Saturday condemned the political use of fear and the building of walls, describing the refugee crisis as “a problem of the world” and urging political leaders to do more, according to America magazine.
The pope did not name names and did not refer to the upcoming U.S. presidential election, but he spoke about issues that have come up in the 2016 campaigns.
“No tyranny can be sustained without exploiting our fears,” the pope said, according to comments published by the Vatican Radio. “Citizens are walled-up, terrified, on one side; on the other side, even more terrified, are the excluded and banished.”
“No tyranny can be sustained without exploiting our fears. This is clear,” Francis said at the Third World Meeting of Popular Movements. “All tyranny is terrorist. And when that terror, ignited in the peripheries with massacres, looting, oppression and injustice, explodes in the centers in the form of violence, including with hateful and cowardly intent, the citizens who still have some rights are tempted by the false security of walls, physical or social—walls that close some in and banish others.”

Beautiful place Vatican city. The mob will not hurt those walls or the man behind them. He has done more for the poor then anyone else.

I would normally agree but in this case, Trump supporters have a valid point. It does come across hypocritical if ones primary residence is one of the safest, most secured and walled compounds on the planet.

It's very uninformed to say that about the Vatican wall because the papacy LEAVES THE FRONT GATE WIDE OPEN.

Only metal detectors stand between the iconic landmark and the millions of tourists who come to see the historic headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church.
In other words, Vatican City may have walls, but the front door is always open, said the Rev. James Martin, a Catholic priest and editor at large at America magazine.
